Progress – March 27, 2017

Total balance remaining is $12,958.47

Below is a thermometer I created to keep track of how much I have paid since November 2014

A lot happened this Month.  I used 50 percent of my emergency savings to fix my car, purchased new tires which should last 3-5 more years before getting a new car.  My priority is to get rid of my school loan.  Last week I went for a dental checkup.  Everything came out great until I was told I needed braces.  I always knew that someday I would wear them and the time has come.  What I did not expect is for them to say “you have a wisdom tooth which needs to be removed before getting the braces.”  Damn!  I’m thinking about the pain I’m going to endure, especially the money ha-ha-ha.  I’m scheduled to have the wisdom teeth extraction on April 19, 2017.  By the way, I only have 1 wisdom teeth.

Here’s the story, I had 3 wisdom teeth extraction at age 14.  In less than two months, I will be 30 years old. Woohoo! This is me being sarcastic.

The reason why the last wisdom was not taken out is because it never grew until now.  Shit!  I thought about waiting until my school loan is over.  My family convinced me that I must take care of myself first.  They’re right, the wisdom cannot wait.  As for now, the wisdom teeth is not hurting.  Time to say goodbye to my last wisdom in 24 days.  It must go away before I turn 30.

Carlos, my boyfriend left to complete his basic military training.  He joined as an Air National Guard Reserve to help pay for his tuition.  I love him and miss him dearly. We’ve been writing letters to each other almost every other day.  It’s hard not to speak with him until his training is over.  At least I know that he is busy and suffering, lol.  We’ll communicate via phone or video chat beginning on May 1st.

Speaking of money, I also found out that I’m going to need new hearing aids.  My current hearing devices are 5 years old.  The new hearing aids that just came out this year which I need, the price is $8,500 plus warranty for 3 years.  How I’m going to pay the hearing aids, that’s a question I need worry later.  My current hearing aids are dying and cannot be repaired because they cost a lot.  So, my next goal after paying off my school loan is to get the hearing devices by January 2018. I’ll probably get the braces by September or November this year.  I’m not even going to complain because I really need them.  I guess this is what we call “welcome to adult life.”

On Sunday, I volunteered at the Los Angeles Airman Show to help NASA give out goodie bags.  That was a lot of fun.  Where I live, it is super windy!  So many jets flew over and I didn’t expect it to be super L-O-U-D!!!!!  Despite my messy hair, headache, ears ringing – probably from the sonic boom – I had fun so much fun.  I’ll remind myself to bring earmuff protections and ibuprofen next year when I volunteer.
